Hello Delegates! My name is Jake Tibbetts and I am the head chair of CYBER for BMUN LXVI. Joining me on my dias are Trent Gomberg, Suchitra Narayanan, and Nikhil Pimpalkhare. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are incredibly excited to see all of you in March! CYBER uses the crisis format of debate. Personally, I love the crisis style because it is more fast paced and really gives a new challenge to experienced delegates. Introduction!

Hey Delegates! My name is Nikhil Pimpalkhare, and for BMUN 66, I'm going to be one of your vice chairs! This is my first year in BMUN, so it's going to be my first time chairing in the big leagues. I did MUN all through high school as a delegate (League of Creative Minds!!), and I'm really excited to shape crises (*evil laugh) and see where this topic takes us! Non BMUN stuff: I'm a current freshman at Cal studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Outside of Model UN, I enjoy attending local hackathons, playing chess, and tossing frisbees. I look forward to seeing you all at conference! Industrial Control Systems and Cyber Attacks

The United States has the largest network of internet connected industrial control systems (ICS) in the world, which means that this aspect of critical infrastructure is extremely vulnerable since much of these ICS are in private hands. ICS are used to control a huge and diverse portion of critical infrastructure ranging from oil production to water supply and are at varying levels of security throughout the country. I’ve attached some resources to better understand ICS and what kinds of attacks can occur. These are all great examples of how critical infrastructure can be targeted through cyber attack. Kemuri Water Company Attacks: The Kemuri Water Company was the name Verizon gave to their hacked client in its 2016 Data Breach Digest. This hack gave the attackers access to the control systems of highly dangerous chemicals for water treatment and to the general operations of the water flow.
